Citizens' Academy
![]() They Did It and So Can You! The City of Fayetteville graduated 20 citizens from its Fall 2011 Citizens’ Academy Nov. 15, 2011. You can be a part of the next Citizens' Academy in Spring 2012, from Tuesday, April 17 to Tuesday, June 5, 2012. Graduates will be recognized by the Fayetteville City Council. The class meets once a week for seven weeks. The spring class will skip the last week in May for Memorial Day and then graduate on Tuesday, June 5. The Citizens’ Academy helps citizens understand what goes on behind the scenes to provide services to residents. Citizens learn what City departments do and how they do it through presentations, handouts, questions and dialogue. The Fire Department also holds a live demonstration for Citizens’ Academy students to view. The City hopes that informed citizens are able to take information to community groups and share with neighbors. It may even encourage some to be involved in building a better community by becoming members of boards and commissions. Sessions include:
