The City, Cumberland County and the Fayetteville-Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce have partnered with the Ferguson Group to develop a community-wide federal legislative agenda.

The partners met November 30 in a series of meetings with City and County department heads to discuss community federal advocacy needs with The Ferguson Group lobbyists Leslie Mozingo and Debra Bryant. During this meeting, time was allocated for elected official representatives from City Council and County Commissioners to meet with our lobbyists. The Ferguson Group then developed a Calendar 2012 Federal Legislative Agenda Preliminary Draft for your review and discussion.

On January 3, Ms. Mozingo presented the preliminary draft of the agenda to the Fayetteville City Council during its work session and to the Board of Commissioners at its regular meeting.

On Monday February 13, 2012, Council considered and adopted the Calendar Year 2012 Federal Legislative Agenda.

The City's State Legislative Agenda

In an effort to share with the City's state legislative delegation, and meet the needs of the citizens that they also serve, the City Council adopts a State Legislative Agenda. Fayetteville's legislative delegation's support and advocacy is instrumental in assisting the City with acquiring authority to establish certain programs and in securing community assets.

City Council approved the legislative agenda during the March 14 City Council meeting.
